  • THE FORGET-ME-NOT & ELDERFLOWER SCENTS has delicate and whimsical, hand-foraged and naturally dried Forget-Me-Nots and sweet smelling Elderflower - gracefully and artistically infused within each all-natural candle and Wild Botanical Wax Melt.

The Forget-Me-Nots are one of the tiniest, most delicate, magical and breathtakingly beautiful wildflowers. When I see them appear, I know Spring is here – and the Faeries are happily dancing in the fields.

    Symbolism of Forget-Me-Nots ~

The name ‘myosotis’ comes from the Greek word meaning “mouse’s ear,” as its leaves resemble that of a mouses ear.  This genus consists of approximately 200 species, that provide tons of variation. While you can find these tiny flowers in many different colours, from pink to white, to orange, they are definitely most commonly associated with the enticing bluish/purple shade.

Forget-me-nots have no shortage of symbolism. Nearly every country has its own story, legend, and history of these delicate beauties, dating all the back to the creation of the world!

    True love ~

Forget-me-nots represent true love and giving someone this flower means you truly love and respect this person. It is a testament to your relationship and promises the other person that you will never forget them in your thoughts.

    Fidelity ~

Forget-me-nots are a symbol of fidelity and being truthful to someone you love.

    Long-lasting connection ~

Forget-me-nots represent long lasting connections that can exist between not only lovers, but also friends. This connection can’t be broken or shaken by anything or anyone.

Historically, these flowers symbolise remembrance - not only associated with love - but for those we’ve lost as well.

Forget-me-nots also symbolise protection and luck.

    The Essence of Elderflowers ~

One of the most distinctive things about the essence of Elderflowers is their smell - floral, creamy and ‘Summery’. You can instinctively detect their scent as you draw closer to their intoxicating, flowering buds.

    Elder Tree Folklore ~

In ancient mythology, the Elder tree (also known as the Goddess tree) is highly sacred with a spirit known as the Elder Mother, or ‘Hylde Moer’ in Danish, living inside the tree. This spirit guards every Elder tree and has the ability to protect and to harm. Legend has it that magical powers from the Elder Mother are gifted by her to parts of the tree and she transforms the tree’s natural gifts - flowers, berries and wood - into wonderful blessings!  Always connected to female deities, with witches, fairies, protection and guardianship.

    The Elder Fairy ~

The Elder is a tree of beginnings and endings, of birth and death, so the Elder fairy is a spirit of transformation and the crossing of thresholds. Generally seen as an old woman, the Elder fairy advises on what to cast away and what to take up.

She may provide a potent link with the Mother Goddess and facilitates contact with spirits of other trees. In a sense she acts as a mother figure within the woodland. She carries the wisdom of the Crone, and is mistress of the deepest magic.

Witches were said to be able to turn themselves into Elder trees. Gypsies believe that it is very bad luck to cut down and burn Elder wood and that the Elder Mother will take revenge. This superstition arises from an instinctive realisation that a lack of respect for Nature is dangerous, ultimately, to the human race. Elder's unruly growth hints at the untamable aspect of Nature, the black heart of the earth to which we owe our being.

Elder fairy has an aged, feminine wisdom, too long mispriced in our culture, but with a little respect she will act as teacher.

    Elder Tree Symbolism ~

It's meaning is transformation, death, regeneration and rebirth. It has one of the strongest reputatation for fairy and witch superstitions, and magical protection of all the Ogham trees.

It is the end of a cycle and a rebirth. The cycle has ended. There is a change arising from the old and bringing about a new phase.
